Welcome to the Rebel editions, where we let our appreciation for art run wild. In this version, one gets a little quirky.
Still Life with Peaches and Grapes (Auguste Renoir): Renoir stayed for a portion of the summer of 1881 at his patron Paul Berard's rural residence in the little Normandy hamlet of Wargemont. During his visit, Renoir created two identical still life paintings with striking color combinations that depicted the family's faience jardinière filled to the brim with peaches. The second version was included in the sixth Impressionist exhibition the following year; Berard bought the current piece for himself.
